Philippines -- The Supreme Court has approved the use of the writ of
amparo as another means to bring an end to extrajudicial killings and
enforced disappearances in the country.

In its regular en banc session Tuesday, the high court affirmed the
draft rule on the new writ, which may be invoked by any person whose
right to life, liberty and security is threatened.
